david schrott is everywhere

I believe that all things worth doing take time. I learned photography on a cumbersome 4×5 and later graduated to a “faster” camera, a Hasselblad. Neither of these cameras produces the bulk of images a DSLR can, but that is okay. After reviewing thousands of images I made between 1999 and 2012, I realized my best work was almost aways shot on film. Slow and methodical; insanely precise. At the end of 2012, I dropped the DSLR and dusted off my film cameras. The results have been excellent.

I believe in slow journalism. Many of my photo essays take over a year to complete. The editorials I write with them for magazines make a comprehensive whole — telling a story over months and years that forms a bigger picture.

Life can’t and shouldn’t be rushed. Neither should photography or the written word.

Let’s work to-gether.
